This Legend Went From Nukes to Election Odds

Also: I Am Not a Trader, I Am a Level Seven Oracle

What a show we had today with the absolute legend John Aristotle Phillips, Co-Founder and CEO of PredictIt. John’s a longtime political entrepreneur who’s spent decades on how markets aggregate information and improve forecasting.

A few more highlights from today’s show:

  • John designed an atomic bomb from public documents as a Princeton junior and got the paper back classified. A Pakistani operative was caught trying to buy it.

  • The CFTC gave PredictIt permission in 2014, tried to take it back without a reason, and got asked by a judge if it thought it had a license to bully.

  • Why PredictIt’s position limit is $3,500 and not a round number.

  • The third amendment of the Predictable Constitution, and the balance of power position it keeps me in.

Premium subscribers, there’s a bonus Q&A with John at the bottom of this post. It’s worth the watch, especially since a subscriber question got him to break a little PredictIt news early.

All of my market picks drop Friday (tomorrow), August 7th at noon, with a livestream “album release party” so I can walk you through the madness of my prediction market world. Some of it you’ll be impressed with. Some of it you’ll laugh at. That’s why I’m here.

Please share this post with your family and friends. The Predictable w/ Stu show is free as always, and it was an honor to have John on.
